Zhumadian City actively practices the concept of green development, taking urban greening and ecological construction as the starting point, continuously increasing the amount of "green" in the city, promoting the construction of park cities, and striving to form a new pattern of garden and green space system of "park in the city, city in the park, and city park integration", effectively enhancing the sense of gain and happiness of the citizens.

On June 24th, the reporter saw in the triangular area of the intersection of Lianjiang Avenue East, Leshan Avenue and Fengguang Road in the urban area that the construction site of the Yicheng District Elderly Sports and Fitness Demonstration Park project was completely enclosed by green fences. Workers inside the construction site were busy and some areas had already been planted with green trees, and the prototype of the park was emerging.

This year, our city plans to include the construction of 12 pocket parks in the urban beautification sector as projects benefiting the people, including 7 in Yicheng District, 4 in development zones, and 1 in demonstration zones. It has promoted the comprehensive development of park and garden construction, road greening, and waterfront landscape transformation, and has made efforts to form a new pattern of garden and green space system with "park in the city, city in the park, and integration of city and park" through simultaneous efforts of land acquisition, relocation, and green building, demolition and restoration of illegal buildings, and three-dimensional greening.

In 2023, Zhumadian City has completed the upgrading and renovation of 9 diversion islands, including Kaiyuan Avenue, Wenming Avenue, and Yicheng Avenue. The landscape effect has been improved by adding landscape stones, planting decorative plants, colorful leafy plants, and perennial flowers. Promoting the greening of blank green spaces has solved the problem of bare yellow soil in seven blank green spaces, including Ruhe Avenue, Wenming Avenue, Zhongyuan Avenue, and Kaiyuan Avenue, and improved the integrity of road greening. A total of 80700 square meters of new green space were added throughout the year, and the area of renovated green space was increased by 13000 square meters.
