Mid term evaluation of the "unveiling and leading" project for wildlife, plants, and ancient and famous trees

On June 30th, the mid-term evaluation meeting of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration's "unveiling and leading" project "Identification Technology and System Research and Development of Wildlife, Plants and Ancient Trees" was held in Beijing.

At the evaluation meeting, the attending experts and relevant responsible persons reviewed the sample library and knowledge base of intelligent recognition of wild animals and plants, the intelligent recognition software and cloud platform of wild animals and plants, and observed the new identification methods and supporting equipment for the age of ancient and famous trees. The project leader and professor from Beijing Forestry University, Xu Fu, reported on the progress of the project implementation and comprehensively introduced the latest progress of the project team in intelligent recognition of rare and endangered wildlife and plants, as well as multi scenario identification of ancient and famous trees and tree ages.

The rapid and accurate identification of wild animals and plants, ancient and famous trees, and their protection levels is a difficult problem for grassroots forest and grassland workers. It is of great significance to empower the protection of wild animals and plants, ancient and famous trees through information technology and intelligence, and achieve accurate identification of wild animals and plants and accurate identification of the age of ancient and famous trees.

At present, the project team has built the largest intelligent recognition sample and knowledge base for wild animals and plants in China, proposed a high recognition rate intelligent recognition model for wild animals and plants, developed a cross platform intelligent recognition app and accurate identification cloud service system, created a technology system for ancient and famous tree age identification, proposed new non-destructive tree age identification methods such as spectral method and telomere method, and improved the traditional regression method for tree age identification.

The project aims to provide basic data and platform support for the protection of rare animals and plants and the age identification of ancient and famous trees. The project results will significantly improve the identification efficiency and accuracy of wild animals and plants and ancient and famous trees, providing strong support for the protection of wild animals and plants and ancient and famous trees.

The project is led by Beijing Forestry University and jointly undertaken by 10 units, including the Forest and Grass Investigation and Planning Institute of the State Forestry and Grass Administration, the Kunming Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Molecular Plant Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Software Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Yunnan Academy of Forestry Sciences.
