Import and export of internal combustion engine industry from January to August 2024
The growth trend of China's exports continues to strengthen, with exports to major economies continuing to rebound on a month on month basis. In the first eight months, exports to ASEAN, the European Union, and the United States all maintained growth. The export of private enterprises in our country continues to maintain double-digit growth, and the import and export growth rate of foreign-funded enterprises is also expanding.
According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, China's total import and export value for the first eight months of 2024 was 402.103 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.7%. Among them, exports amounted to 2314.77 billion US dollars, an increase of 4.6%; Imports amounted to $1706.27 billion, an increase of 2.5%; The trade surplus is 608.5 billion US dollars.
Specifically in the internal combustion engine industry, there has been a slight increase in import and export performance, with import growth exceeding exports.
According to data compiled by the General Administration of Customs, the total import and export volume of the internal combustion engine industry from January to August 2024 was 21.904 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 4.83%. Among them, imports were 6.087 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 5.67%, and exports were 15.816 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 4.50%.
In terms of import value, other types of internal combustion engines decreased year-on-year, while other types showed growth, with a significant decrease in other types of internal combustion engines. Specifically, from January to August 2024, diesel engine imports amounted to 1.023 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 26.38%; Gasoline engine imports amounted to 320 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 6.88%; The import of other types of complete machines reached 1.442 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 1.889%; The import of internal combustion engine components reached 2.766 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.99%; The import of generator sets reached 536 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 40.48%.
In terms of export value, except for the year-on-year decrease in other categories of complete machines and generator sets, all other sub categories increased year-on-year. Specifically, from January to August 2024, diesel engine exports amounted to 913 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 5.59%; Gasoline engine exports amounted to 1.411 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 41.10%; The export of other types of complete machines reached 1.629 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of -2.47%; The export of internal combustion engine components reached 8.503 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 7.58%; The export of generator sets reached 3.361 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.08%.
