According to the latest production and sales data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the automobile market continued to show a good trend in May, with production and sales increasing by more than 10% compared to the same period last year, and both domestic demand and exports performed well. Among them, the passenger car market has shown active performance, the commercial vehicle market still needs to recover, new energy vehicles continue to grow rapidly, and the growth rate of automobile exports has significantly increased.
According to the specific data released, in May, the production and sales of automobiles reached 2.649 million and 2.686 million respectively, with a month on month increase of 1.1% and 3.7%, and a year-on-year increase of 11.6% and 11.2%, respectively. From January to May, the production and sales of automobiles reached 12.826 million and 12.748 million respectively, an increase of 12.7% and 10.9% year-on-year. The growth rate of production narrowed by 0.2 percentage points compared to January to April, while the growth rate of sales increased by 0.1 percentage points.
In May, the production and sales of commercial vehicles reached 336000 and 335000 respectively, a decrease of 7.4% and 8.8% compared to the previous month. The production increased by 4.4% year-on-year, while the sales decreased by 2% year-on-year. Among them, the sales of natural gas commercial vehicles reached 18000 units, a decrease of 4.4% month on month and 24.9% year-on-year. From January to May, the production and sales of commercial vehicles reached 1.746 million and 1.753 million respectively, an increase of 4.2% and 1.2% year-on-year. Among them, the sales volume of natural gas commercial vehicles was 102000, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%.
From the specific models released, in May, both production and sales of trucks reached 292000 units, a decrease of 7.9% and 9.6% respectively compared to the previous month. Production increased by 4.7% year-on-year, while sales decreased by 2.4% year-on-year. Among them, the sales volume of heavy-duty trucks was 89000, a month on month increase of 1.3% and a year-on-year increase of 13.6%; The sales volume of medium-sized trucks was 8000 units, a month on month decrease of 37.7% and a year-on-year decrease of 28.4%; The sales volume of light trucks was 160000 units, a decrease of 11.9% compared to the previous period and a year-on-year increase of 1.8%; The sales volume of micro trucks was 35000 units, a decrease of 14.4% month on month and 33.5% year-on-year.
From January to May, the production and sales of trucks reached 1.534 million and 1.54 million respectively, an increase of 4% and 0.6% year-on-year. Among them, the sales of heavy-duty trucks reached 441000 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%; Sales of medium-sized trucks reached 49000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 11.3%; The sales volume of light trucks reached 868000 units, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%; The sales volume of micro trucks was 182000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 22.4%.
In May, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 44000 and 43000 respectively, a month on month decrease of 3.8% and 3.2% respectively, and a year-on-year increase of 3% and 1.1% respectively. Among them, the sales volume of large and medium-sized buses was 9000 units, a month on month increase of 2% and a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%; The sales volume of light buses was 34000 units, a decrease of 4.5% compared to the previous period and an increase of 2.3% year-on-year.
From January to May, the production and sales of passenger cars reached 212000 units, with year-on-year growth of 5.4% and 5.7% respectively. Among them, the sales volume of large and medium-sized buses was 40000, a year-on-year decrease of 1.3%; The sales volume of light buses was 172000 units, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%.
At present, the overall operation of China's automotive industry is showing a stable and positive trend, with market vitality continuously released. However, the industry's profitability continues to decline, and the situation of "incremental growth without profit" has not improved. The "internal competition" mainly manifested in the form of disorderly "price wars" is an important factor in the decline of industry efficiency.
