According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, the total import and export value of China in the first five months of 2025 was 2.497809 trillion US dollars, an increase of 1.3%. Among them, exports amounted to 1.484848 trillion US dollars, an increase of 6.0%; Imports amounted to 1012.961 billion US dollars, an increase of -4.9%; The trade surplus was 471.89 billion US dollars, and foreign trade continued its steady growth trend.

Lv Daliang, Director of the Statistical Analysis Department of the General Administration of Customs, stated that since the beginning of this year, China's economy has continued to recover and improve, and goods trade has maintained strong resilience under external pressure. In May, China's imports and exports continued to grow, especially after the high-level talks on economic and trade between China and the United States. The growth rate significantly accelerated, and the month achieved steady growth with two working days less than the same period last year.

Specifically in the internal combustion engine industry, there has been a slight increase in import and export performance, with export growth exceeding imports.

According to data compiled by the General Administration of Customs, the total import and export volume of the internal combustion engine industry from January to May 2025 was 15.406 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.82%. Among them, imports were 3.951 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of -4.41%, and exports were 11.456 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 15.76%.

1、 In terms of import value, other types of internal combustion engines and generator sets increased year-on-year, while other types decreased, with a significant decrease in gasoline engines. Specifically:

Diesel engine imports amounted to 667 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of -0.30%;

Gasoline engine imports amounted to 144 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 18.91%;

Imports of other types of complete machines amounted to 951 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 7.48%;

The import of internal combustion engine components reached 1.83 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of -12.42%;

The import of generator sets reached 358 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 14.95%.

2、 In terms of export value, diesel engines and gasoline engines decreased year-on-year, while other sub types increased year-on-year. Specifically:

Diesel engine exports amounted to 538 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of -2.53%;

Gasoline engine exports amounted to 850 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 3.34%;

The export of other types of complete machines reached 1.399 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 46.90%;

The export of internal combustion engine components reached 6.076 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 8.78%;

The export of generator sets reached 2.592 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 34.57%.
