On January 9th, the Third Member Representative Conference of China Forestry Industry Federation and the Academician Frontier Research Exchange Conference on "Building a Modern Forestry Industry System to Serve Major National Strategic Needs" were held in Qingyuan City. Chen Junguang, Director of Guangdong Forestry Bureau, introduced at the meeting that currently, the total output value of Guangdong's forestry industry is about 870 billion yuan, accounting for about one tenth of the national total.

It is reported that this conference brings together various forces such as the government, enterprises, scientific research institutions, and experts and scholars to discuss accelerating the construction of a modern forestry industry system, serving major national strategic needs, and promoting the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature in modernization.

Chen Junguang said that in recent years, Guangdong has carried out large-scale land greening and developed the forestry industry according to local conditions. At present, the forest area in the province is 162 million mu, with a forest coverage rate of 53.03%, ranking fifth in the country in terms of coverage rate; The total output value of the forestry industry in the province is about 870 billion yuan, accounting for about one tenth of the national total.

Qingyuan City is a major forestry city in Guangdong Province, with a forest ownership of nearly 1.4 million hectares, a forest coverage rate of 69.74%, and nearly 600000 hectares of public ecological forests. The main indicators of forest resources are among the top in Guangdong Province, and it has good ecological conditions and forestry industry foundation.

At the meeting, the People's Government of Qingyuan City signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the China Forestry Industry Federation. Both parties will cooperate deeply in the implementation of the National Forest Ecological Labeling Product Construction Project and the landing of major national forestry ecological engineering projects, in accordance with the deployment of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee to "deepen the promotion of green and beautiful Guangdong ecological construction".

Wen Wenxing, Deputy Secretary of the Qingyuan Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, stated that Qingyuan has comparative advantages such as being closest to the central city of the Greater Bay Area, having the largest development space, and the best ecological conditions. It is striving to become the preferred destination for industrial transfer, tourism and vacation, and high-quality agricultural product supply in the Greater Bay Area. The China Forestry Industry Federation and Qingyuan have a good cooperation foundation in planning the development of industries such as mountain paulownia and reed bamboo. It is hoped that through this conference, the two sides can further deepen their cooperation and exchanges.
